Plaid Cymru have overtaken Labour in a YouGov poll for the European elections, pushing Jeremy Corbyn’s party into third place in Wales.

The 9,260 sample poll across the UK shows the Brexit Party on 35%, Plaid Cymru on 19% and Labour on 15% in Wales.

The Liberal Democrats are on 9%, while the Greens are on 7% and the Conservatives and UKIP on 5% each.

Plaid Cymru have staked a claim to the Remain vote in Wales, asking voters from the Liberal Democrats, Greens and Change UK to support them to score a Remain victory over the Brexit Party.

“Our poll shows that small increase in turnout by Remainers robs hard Brexit parties from having largest vote share,” Best for Britain said.

“In some regions, just a 5% increase in turnout by those against hard Brexit, robs those parties of a seat.

“Rather than a confirmatory referendum deepening divisions, this poll makes it clear that continuing to pretend this question has been resolved is what’s really pulling the country apart.”

Across the UK, the poll shows the Brexit Party on 34%, the Liberal Democrats on 17% and Labour on 15%.

The Greens are on 11% and the Conservatives on 9%.
