The organisers of a Dolgellau music festival have said that that they hope to return to the town next summer for their 30 year anniversary.

Sesiwn Fawr’s organizing committee said that the Covid-19 pandemic will force them to go virtual again this year with an online festival on the weekend of 16-18 July.

However Ywain Myfyr, the festival’s organiser, said that “circumstances permitting, we look forward to welcoming our audience back to Dolgellau in 2022, which also falls on the festival’s 30th anniversary”.

This year’s Sesiwn will be in digital format but still draw on ‘live’ performances of artists from Wales and beyond, including “top-quality” music, literature and comedy sessions.

Guto Lewys Dafydd, Chair of the Dolgellau Sesiwn Fawr Committee said: “It’s been an uncertain time for us as organisers.

“After postponing last year’s event we were obviously looking forward to inviting everyone back to Dolgellau this year to celebrate, but we must consider the health and wellbeing of residents as well as our supporters and volunteers.

“We are therefore arranging a virtual festival again this year and show support for our artists.”

Ywain Myfyr said: “We are happy that we’re able to adapt our plans for Sesiwn Fawr and provide entertainment during these uncertain times.”

The latest information will be posted on the Sesiwn Fawr website and social media channels.
