A new book publisher launched during the pandemic has said that it’s looking for “under-represented voices in Wales”.

Publisher Seonaid Francis already runs Scotland’s ThunderPoint Publishing, which publishes a variety of genres, including crime, LGBT, historical and literary fiction, predominantly set in Scotland.

She said that her new publisher Black Bee Books aimed to work with authors that reflect the wide range of communities in Wales, and publish titles “that resonate with a diverse readership”.

“We launched Black Bee Books during the Covid pandemic, but we are very much looking forward to working with an expanding group of authors and engaging with bookshops, readers and new audiences in Wales,” she said.

“We are actively looking for authors who represent the diverse communities in Wales, and write with a distinctive and engaging voice that readers will empathise with.”

‘Variety’

The Book publisher has set up shop in Llandeilo and is asking anyone who has a potential title to get in touch.

“As a new publishing house based in West Wales, the company want to be reflective of a wide variety of experiences and are actively seeking those who are under-served by the industry,” they said.

“We are looking to publish both adult and young adult fiction and non-fiction, but not children’s books.”

Black Bee titles will be distributed by the Books Council of Wales, and they said that they were looking forward to working with bookshops across Wales.
