S4C presenter Sarra Elgan interviews Bryan Habana

Springbok rugby legend Bryan Habana is developing his Welsh language abilities with each appearance on S4C.

The former South African international is part of the expert panel for S4C’s ‘Taith y Llewod 2021’ coverage which is providing highlights of games during the Lion’s tour.

Having dipped his toe in with a ‘Noswaith dda’ (good evening) during a previous appearance, he has now taken it a step further.

For his latest stint of analysis in Pretoria, presenter Sara Elgan introduces him in Welsh but switches to English to ask his opinions on the latest game in the series.

Bryan Habana responds with an unprompted, ‘gem gyffrous’ (exciting game) – provoking a fist-pump celebration from the delighted presenter.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest Rugby Union players, he brings to the S4C team almost two decade’s worth of experience competing at the top level.

His CV includes a 2007 Rugby World Cup victory, a second place in the all-time list of test try scorers and clocking up a 10.2 seconds time for running the 100 metres.

With the Lions tour not finishing until August 8th, there’s still plenty of time left for the ‘dysgywr’ to keep developing his Welsh language skills.
