US President Donald Trump has retweeted criticism of the Welsh Government’s local lockdowns in the midst of a concerted blizzard of social media activity this morning.

He retweeted a message by Fox News host Laura Inghram, who warned that the United States would become like Wales under a Joe Biden Presidency.

“Your future under Biden: ‘Rolling lockdowns’ will become norm in Wales,’ she tweeted with a link to a BBC article saying that people in Wales should “get ready” for rolling lockdowns over the winter months.

Donald Trump is at the White House self-isolating after three days of hospital treatment having tested positive for Covid-19.

‘No guide’

Yesterday Twitter hid one of his virus-related tweets behind a warning about “spreading misleading and potentially harmful information”.

He wrote the US had “learned to live with” flu season, “just like we are learning to live with Covid, in most populations far less lethal!!!”

This afternoon Wales’ Chief Medical Officer had criticised Donald Trump, saying that he hoped most people in Wales would disgregard his advice.

He said he hoped “most people in Wales don’t take President Trump as their guide on how to deal with coronavirus.”

He said he believed the people of Wales understand this is a “serious public health threat” and that most of us have seen friends and family who have been affected by it.
