Bolton Wanderers has welcomed a new signing with a message in the Welsh language.

The League One side recently announced that it has signed Welsh international Josh Sheehan.

The 26-year-old box to box midfielder has moved on a two-year deal from Newport County, subject to international clearance.

One of League Two’s leading midfielders last season, he was voted into the PFA’s divisional team of the year.

The club’s official Twitter account posted: “Pwy sy’n barod am chwaraewr newydd? (Who is ready for a new player?)”.

The message also included a Welsh flag emoji as well as an emoji of a hand holding a pen. The club has been praised on social media for its use of the Welsh language.

‘Small gesture’

Dei Bryn said: “It may just be a small gesture but them using Welsh like this is great. I reckon a lot is to do with Ian Gwyn Hughes and ⁦‪@FAWales⁩. They’ve used Welsh a lot in recent times and that’s to their great credit.”

Aled Parry said: “Tweet arbennig @OfficialBWFC My second team for next season.”

Josh Sheehan said: “I’m delighted to sign for such a big club with the ambitions they have,” he said.

“That’s one of the reasons why I joined. I want to be part of the journey they are on and get Bolton Wanderers back to where they belong.

“When speaking with the manager he expressed his desire to sign me and told me his ambitions, and that really attracted me to be part of it.

“Also his style of football and the way he wants to play suits me so I feel it’s a good match.

“I can’t wait to play in front of the Bolton Wanderers fans. Even before it was announced I had loads of messages from them! I think this just shows the size of the fan base at this club.”
