Tory MPs are on course to lose three Welsh seats in the ‘Red Wall’ according to a new poll conducted following the announcement that they would abandon a manifesto pledge not to raise National Insurance.

The poll by the Telegraph projects that the party would lose Delyn, Wrexham and Clwyd South if an election was held on present boundaries, and face a hung parliament in the House of Commons.

An investigation by Nation.Cymru published yesterday showed that many Welsh Conservative MPs, including Wrexham’s Sarah Atherton and Clwyd South’s Simon Baynes, campaigned on cutting or not raising taxes before 2019’s General Election.

The Telegraph‘s poll of 10,000 Britons was surveyed by Electoral Calculus and FindOutNow on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. It showed that the Conservatives would lose 54 seats won during the 2019 election, falling 15 short of a majority.

Labour would pick up 41 seats, winning 244 seats in total.

Delyn is currently held by independent MP Rob Roberts who has lost the Conservative whip.

Wales’ constituencies are due to be cut from 40 to 32 by the time of the next election, with parts of Clwyd South merged with Wrexham and Montgomeryshire, and parts of Delyn with Labour-held Alyn and Deeside.

What’s the matter Myles? Can you not cope with the idea that the English may not in fact be the master race and we your ever so grateful subjects?

Oh dear, I think poor old Myles has been reading the Dail Heil, The Daily Express or the Daily Torygraph a little too much. Worse still, he actually seems to believe what he reads. Why else would he be labouring under that pathetic English nationalist delusion that we couldn’t possibly cope without the benign rule of the wonderful English master race? That same old cr@p has always been trotted out every time every former English colony has gone independent. The fact is that the we could manage perfectly well without you and it is precisely that you hate – the… Read more »
