Delyn Tory MP ‘not present’ when police broke up lockdown party at his house

A spokesperson for Delyn’s Tory MP Rob Roberts has said that he was “not home” when police broke up a party at his home.

The Daily Mirror revealed that North Wales Police had broken up the bank holiday 40th birthday party at the Tory MPs house on Monday.

Two people who were visiting the house and were asked to leave.

But former Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies condemned the story as “just b*llocks”.

“As he’s bravely outlined over the past few months, Rob has gone through quite a time recently,” he said.

‘Reminded’

Superintendent Mark Pierce of North Wales Police told the Mirror: “In response to two reports of a possible breach of Covid-19 regulations we visited an address at Ty’n y Coed, Mold, yesterday (Monday, May 25).

“When we called at the property two people visiting the house left following advice and no further action was taken.”

But a spokesperson for Mr Roberts said: “Rob Roberts was not present at the time. His family have been reminded of the guidelines set out by the government.”

Roberts defeated the incumbent Labour MP David Hanson at the 2019 general election, and has since then been an outspoken presence on social media for the Welsh Conservatives.

‘Misinformation’

The controversy came just hours after Rob Roberts defended UK Government advisor Dominic Cummings on his Facebook page.

“Having watched the statement from Mr Cummings, I believe that he seemed to be entirely acting in the best interests of his child as a responsible husband and father,” he said.

“Unsurprisingly there has been a significant amount of misinformation which he has explained fully.
I think it was a partially uncomfortable but completely necessary press conference and the statement and responses to the questions were calmly delivered, detailed and succinct.
“It is now time for us all to move on from this issue and continue to be focussed on solving this huge challenge of COVID.”

‘But former Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies condemned the story as “just b*llocks”’.

In the unforgettable words of Mandy Rice-Davies well over half a century ago, ‘Well, he would, wouldn’t he?’.

Surely a “lose lose” situation. If he wasn’t at his home during ‘lockdown’, where was he? Durham??

probably visiting one of his other homes ! Perhaps he should remember where he keeps his razor and pop round to tidy up a bit. Country’s in poor shape when Tory M.P’s look like tramps.

Perhaps he’s a fan of Dom, and models himself on his hero?

Too true, another who believes he is one of God’s Chosen Own. Voters in Delyn should be ashamed of themselves.

I am no Tory, but you’re missing parts of this story.

Rob Roberts has recently split from him wife, it was his estranged wife’s 40th Birthday. He was in London (he has been physically present in HoC debates in recent weeks).

This is an uber left wing paper chucking a grenade into the Conservative camp. But there really is no story hear.

What do you suggest Gethin/Sian ? Embarking on another round of Meibion Glyndwr activity or F.W.A type movement with real explosives and guns ? You got to be kidding. They wouldn’t send the boys from Herford down to deal with it just hand it to reservists for a spot of match practice. In case you didn’t notice first time round some of the best and biggest fires of the Meibion era were the work of “security agencies” – hyfryd iawn ! So the cybernats have a role to play just pushing out stories and views about what can be done… Read more »

Agree about Meibion. Surely we all do, would be waste of good young people who might get drawn in. My hope is
the WNP will really take off, as 50% not voting shows how down people have become. But that is a vast reserve
of votes just waiting, and would not leech votes from Plaid who still remain important, whatever.

Would be mightily chuffed if Plaid, Gwlad and WNP all won seats at constituency or regional levels. Anything that takes power away from the hotch potch of Unionist colonist parties must be an improvement. And who knows there might come a day when they would pack enough punch collectively to put together a coalition, but that would take a capacity for tolerance which isn’t much on show right now.
