Dilyn the Welsh dog has been chosen to decorate Boris Johnson’s No 10 Christmas card this year, but has copped criticism for featuring in a “taxpayer-funded photoshoot”.

The two-year-old Jack Russell-cross was saved by Friends of Animals Wales from a breeder in South Wales because he had a misaligned jaw and was going to be put down, and now lives in No 10 with the Prime Minister and his wife Carrie Johnson.

The card has already been criticised in the Mirror however as the image was captured by one of the UK Government’s official photographers.

No 10 defended the pictures as a “government resource” which “document the work of the Government as well as the work inside No10”.

An article in today’s Times also criticised the UK Government use of its own photographers, likening it to North Korea, and saying that “the vanity is almost comical”.

“Taxpayers fund them to shovel out PR guff to feed ministers’ already outsized egos,” letters editor Stephen Bleach said. “We’re very generous — at least one of the snappers is on the equivalent of a six-figure salary.”

An image of Jacob Rees-Mogg riding a zipwire at Zip World Bethesda was highlighted for criticism.

First Minister Mark Drakeford’s Christmas card will as last year be based on a child’s drawing.

Besides he English Tories spending £46 per bottle of champagne that was delivered to their 2019 conference in which a subject discussed was poverty & homelessness, coincedentally just before the Office For National Statistics revealed a shocking 726 people died while homeless the previous year sums up the nasty party. Now we find out that bumbling Boris is abusing taxpayers money again with this Christmas card ego-trip, and where’s Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies or Darren Millar criticising grotesque spend of public money? Nowhere to be seen. These brown-nosed fawning Anglophiles are mute. Speaks volumes And no doubt with… Read more »
