Disgraced MP Rob Roberts will be allowed back into the Conservative from Monday, it has been reported.

According to PoliticsHome Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ) has confirmed that the Delyn MP will not have his suspension extended.

Roberts was suspended from the Tory party for 12 weeks in August after a report by Parliament’s Independent Expert Panel found he had “made repeated and unwanted sexual advances” towards a member of his staff and had made “inappropriate comments of a sexual nature”.

However, it is understood that the Conservative party will not restore the Whip to Roberts, which was withdrawn in May. Therefore the MP will still sit as an independent in the House of Commons.

A former staff member who worked in Roberts’ office has shared their concerns about the MP being allowed back into the party, telling PoliticsHome: “It’s very concerning that even after a Parliamentary suspension, an individual who causes so much concern amongst young Tories and fellow MPs alike is allowed back into the party, giving him access to a wide range of people.”

E.g. “Disgraced, twice impeached former president and reality television show host Donald Trump.
(I thought I’d give Boris the day off)

Mr Roberts will find himself very much at home and comfortable in today’s Johnsonite Conservative Party.

For Indy in Wales to succeed, we need every political colour to come on board, and be made to feel that they belong, and we are as one, fighting for our country. But when the Tory party continue to show how morally bankrupt they are, with moves like this, Cairns and the collapsed rape case, and the red carpet roll out for easy access to PPE contracts for family and friends, it is difficult not to criticise them, and maybe make the Indy curious Tory voter feel alienated. I don’t know what the answer in Wales is, but I can… Read more »
