The First Minister has said that he “deeply regrets” the decision of the UK Government not to require those who return from amber list countries who have been fully vaccinated to self-isolate.

He said that it was not possible for Wales to have a different policy, but the advice of the Welsh Government that people should holiday at home had not changed.

He said however that those who had returned from amber list countries should not visit a hospital or a care home until the normal self-isolation period was expended.

“I deeply regret the UK Government’s decision not to require people to self-isolate on returning from amber list countries,” he said.

“But it would untenable for Wales to follow a different border policy, as the Chief Medical Officer said.”

‘No mandating’

Mark Drakeford added that vaccination certificates would not be mandated in Wales, but that they would be available and that individual businesses could make the decision to use such certificates.

“There will be no mandating of such certificates here in Wales,” he said. “There will never be a requirement for people to show they are vaccinated to use public services.”

He also said that there is enough vaccine in the system to give over 85% of the population over two jabs by the time Wales reaches ‘Level 0’ of lockdown on 7 August, Mark Drakeford has said.

“Even at alert Level 0 we expect people to work from home where that is possible, and face masks will continue to be a legal requirement in indoor public places other than education and hospitality settings,” he said.

If you don’t like the idea of Wales being opressed and submissive, does that mean you are in favour of independence?

As far as quarantine goes, there’s still a concern that vaccine-resistant strains of covid may develop and be imported by holidaymakers.
