First Minister’s radio interview turned into a dance anthem remix

It started with a Mark Drakeford appearance on Capital Radio to talk about the reopening of nightclubs.

It ended with the Welsh First Minister featuring in his very own remix clip of dance anthem ‘Black Magic’.

The Welsh Labour leader, appearing on the Josh and Kally show, was asked to choose between one of two dance tracks to get everyone ‘ready for the clubs’ this weekend.

The First Minister bopped along as he listened to clips of Billen Ted’s ‘When You’re Out (feat. Mae Muller)’ and ‘Black Magic’ by German DJ and producer Jonasu.

He said, “It’ll have to be Black Magic for me,” before adding, “At least, I know the chocolates”.

His response was used by Capital Radio team to create a Mark Drakeford remix clip with his voice dubbed over the ‘Black Chocolate’ vocal.

Mark Drakeford was being interviewed about the reopening of Welsh nightclubs after Covid restrictions were this weekend reduced to level zero.

Presenter Josh Andrews asked Mr Drakeford if he would be out clubbing this weekend.

He responded: “Well, the last time I went to a club it was probably still rationing. I’m probably not the best person to ask about doing that.”

Co-presenter Kally Davies followed up by offering to take him to some clubs. He replied: “Your street cred would be at considerable risk, I’m afraid.”

Despite the removal of restrictions, the First Minister has warned against people treating it as ‘free-for-all’ and emphasised that, apart from hospitality settings, masks are still required for most indoor places.
