Former UKIP Senedd candidate resigns as minister of five chapels

A former UKIP Senedd candidate has resigned as the minister of five chapels.

The secretaries of Capel y Graig, Trelech, Carmarthenshire have confirmed that Reverend Felix Aubel has stepped down from the position.

In a letter seen by Newyddion S4C they also thanked the controversial preacher for his 15 years of service.

He was also the minister for four other chapels, which were Annibynnol Penybont, Fynnonbedr, Bwlchnewydd a Chapel Cendy.

When asked about his resignation, Dr Aubel said he has “no comment at all” to make on the matter.

The Brexiteer made UK-wide headlines during the Brexit referendum campaign because he was very angry to find a Vote Leave sign in Brongest, Ceredigion had been vandalised to read “Vote Beaver”.

This lead to a mock campaign to be launched on social media for an unlikely third candidate in the EU referendum, with the hashtag #VoteBeaver.

‘Conservative’

Aubel stood as a candidate for the SDP in the 1983 general election. He then joined the Conservative Party and came within 750 votes to winning the seat of Brecon and Radnorshire.

During the Brexit referendum campaign, he was an organiser for Vote Leave in west Wales.

At the last Senedd election he stood as a candidate for UKIP in the constituency of Delyn and the region of North Wales.

The controversial figure has previously come under fire for appearing to call for the return of religious persecution

He responded to a Swedish far-right blogger by asking “When will today’s Christian Europe say ‘Enough is Enough’, just like the Christian Spaniards did at the end of the Middle Ages?”

The Spanish Inquisition in the Middle Ages saw the persecution of Muslims, Jews and others that the Catholic Church saw as heretics.

This resulted in the and Muslim communities that had called Spain home for centuries being expelled from the country.

Reverend Felix, who is presumably some sort of Christian fundamentalist, campaigned against the Assembly before the referendum and then campaigned, as an UKIP candidate, to abolish the Senedd. So what weird logic are you using when claiming the Senedd is a hive of Christian fundamentalist Bs?

Have met the man in the past and thought him intelligent / decent human being.

Truly shocked to view his social media comments which were frankly verging on fascism (abolish Senedd, poor attitude towards EU nationals etc.)

What took them so long?

Felix Aubel is a disgrace to humanity and Christianity. There isn’t an ounce of Christian kindness flowing through his veins and it took these chapels a hell of a long time to discover that and get something done about it!
