Huw Edwards has mocked Piers Morgan for storming off the set of Good Morning Britain.

The Welsh BBC broadcaster ribbed Morgan, 56, who won his first award for TV presenting since infamously flouncing out from the GMB studio in the wake of  Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s documentary.

Morgan was awarded the News Presenter award TRIC Awards, beating former his former GMB co-star Susanna Reid as well as Edwards.

The controversial and outspoken TV star shared photos of himself with both Susanna and Huw, the latter of whom he comically shook a fist in front of, ahead of winning the gong.

Morgan tweeted: “You’re going down Boyo.. @thehuwedwards #tricawards @TRICawards.”

Later, Piers shared a picture of himself grinning with the award and wrote: “Victory!”

Edwards then retweeted the picture of them together and joked: “I stormed out so he won by default #congratulations @TRICawards @susannareid100.”

Morgan stormed out of the GMB studio following an on-air row with weatherman Alex Beresford.

‘Oprah’

The day before, Morgan had attacked Meghan Markle on air over her infamous Oprah Winfrey interview with Prince Harry, in which she spoke about experiencing suicidal thoughts as well as accused a senior royal of racism.

He declared that he didn’t believe her, leading to a ferocious Twitter spat between himself and colleague Alex.

Morgan then invited Beresford onto the programme. But following an argument he ended up losing his temper and walking off.

ITV bosses told Morgan he had to apologise for his comments, but he refused to do so, and quit the and show.

There is a suspicion of contrived conflict just to get a show going. All media including news is now showbiz.

‘Mock’ is a bit of misleading headline. It was just a bit of fun.
