‘I’m no cult member’, rants Trump supporter at cousin in Wales during TV interview

A Trump supporter has claimed she isn’t a “cult member” in a bizarre rant during a TV interview.

Alice Butler-Short insisted “loud and clear” to her cousin Adele in Wales that she is an “intelligent woman”, while being questioned by Matt Frei of Channel 4 News.

Ms Butler-Short also claimed that the raid on Capitol Hill by Trump supporters, which left several people dead, was a “peaceful march”, as well as called people “sheep” for wearing face coverings that have been proven to cut transmission rates of covid.

The rioters attacked the seat of US legislative government in an attempt to overturn the result of the presidential election, where Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump, on the basis of unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud. Mr Biden has condemned the pro-Trump rioters as “insurrectionists”.

 

‘Cult member’ 

Alice Butler-Short said: “Let me say it loud and clear to my brother Thomas over there, wherever you are, and to my cousin Adele over there in Wales: I am no Trump cult member. I am an intelligent woman. I am an American.

“I am a proud American and I am proud to stand with the president who has done so much for this country. And in doing so much, that has helped so many countries all over the world.

“And now what do you have? You’re all running around with your little covid masks – like sheep.

“There was no raid ok. I was down there. There was a peaceful march, just as the president requested us. And in every organisation there’s a fringe group.

“But there was part of our own group, and I would perhaps call them the fringe who got caught up in it. So, nothing justifies it. we do not condone it in any way possible.
