I’m not waiting for Survation: Company’s long-awaited Senedd poll isn’t coming

Survation’s projection in full

Political anoraks across Wales were left disappointed this afternoon as polling company Survation announced that a planned Senedd poll wasn’t coming after all.

Survation, who had polled Hartlepool and Scotland yesterday, had suggested that they were also polling the Welsh Parliament election.

The poll was first announced on Monday when Survation told followers to “standby for a Survation Super Tuesday tomorrow with new polling on behalf of Good Morning Britain in Wales, Scotland and an update on Hartlepool…”

Survation Chief Executive Damian Lyons Lowe then apologised yesterday, saying that the company’s poll was delayed: “Tomorrow I’m afraid! Some waiting required…”

But they announced this afternoon: “Apologies to those keenly waiting for… a Senedd poll from us. There isn’t one coming. Peidiwch ag anghofio pleidleisio!”

The lack of a Survation poll did not go down well on Welsh Twitter. House of Commons clerk Adam Evans said: “Polling hasn’t even opened and already we’ve seen hopes dashed at a promise broken.”

Dan Roberts added: “This neatly sums up the experience of being Welsh.”

Election Maps UK said: “I am apoplectic. The cheek, the nerve, the gall, the audacity and the gumption.”

Welsh political aficionados were however treated to two polls in one day, from YouGov and ComRes, which is more than they have had in some seasons.
