Massive Wrexham ‘Hollywood sign’ appears on outskirts of town
Giant letters reminiscent of the Hollywood sign have appeared on the outskirts of Wrexham.
Bemused residents shared photos on social media of the sign, which has appeared to the south-west of the town months after Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took ownership of the club.
Councillor Carrie Harper also shared a picture of the sign from afar on social media.

The sign can be seen by motorists travelling along the A483.
A similar sign saying ‘Llanrwst’ appeared when the Eisteddfod visited Conwy in 2019.
The sign attracted mostly positive comments, but some expressed disappointment that the Welsh language original name ‘Wrecsam’ wasn’t also included.
“Would of loved ‘Wrecsam’ added too,” Geraint Rogers said.
“Hopefully still time, there’s defo the room!” Carrie Harper replied.

70.9% of the population of Wales presumably spell it “Wrexham”, because they do not speak Welsh.
Everybody knows that, but it seems self-evident that new place-name signs in Wales should be in Welsh. This isn’t the 1970s.
This may shock you, but not everyone in Wales wants to give up their language for another. That’s why we have dual-language signs.
It’s also not a place-name sign placed by the Council, so there’s no “should” about it. Whichever private individual put it up can use whatever language they like.
