The ONS’ interactive map

The Office for National Statistics have developed an interactive map of deaths involving Covid-19, which can be used to see how many have died in every part of Wales from the virus.

The map can show deaths by month and also the total number of deaths by area since March of last year, up to November of last year. The figures will be updated once more on January 18.

It shows that many parts of the south-east of Wales have been hardest hit by the pandemic, with Porth East and Ynyshir in the Rhondda the hardest hit with 34 individual deaths.

Meanwhile, many less populated parts of Wales – particularly in the rural west and north of the country – have seen no deaths or deaths in the single figures.

Public Health Wales reported 63 new deaths by people with Covid-19 today, taking the total to 3,801 throughout the pandemic.
