Plaid Cymru MP takes aim at Welsh Tory leader’s ‘servility’ after Jacob Rees-Mogg couldn’t name him

A Plaid Cymru MP has taken aim at the “servility” of the leader of the Welsh Tories in  the Senedd after Jacob Rees-Mogg was unable to name him.

Liz Saville Roberts was responding to the Etonian Leader of the House of Commons laughing when he asked by a Labour MP if he could name the current holder of the role – Senedd Member Andrew RT Davies

The Plaid MP mocked RT Davies for not being on the “radar” of his “masters” in Westminster despite “fawning” at their “feet”.

Welsh Government ministers have also mocked the Welsh Conservative leader’s backing for his beleaguered boss Boris Johnson, with one saying that he should be awarded an ‘OBN’ (Order of the Brown Nose) for his efforts.

Yesterday Andrew RT Davies said that it was “vital the PM continues his work” but that the investigation into the facts of the party or parties at No 10 Downing Street should be “expedited”.

His reaction stood in contrast with Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross who called for the Prime Minister to resign, saying that his position was “no longer tenable”.

Liz Saville Roberts said: “Despite showing fawning servility at the feet of his Westminster masters every step of the way, @AndrewRTDavies doesn’t show on their radar.

“Time for Welsh Tories to realise that their superiors in Westminster will never care for Wales”.

When Jacob Rees-Mogg was asked by Labour MP Kevin Brennan if he could name the leader of the Conservatives in Wales, with a smile he said: “My… my honourable friend, the Secretary of State for Wales, is called Simon Hart.”

‘Lightweight’

The question in the House of Commons was asked after Jacob Rees-Mogg branded the leader of the Scottish Conservatives “a lightweight” figure after he called on Boris Johnson to resign.

Mr Rees-Mogg told BBC’s Newsnight: “Douglas Ross has always been quite a lightweight figure.” He added that the Secretary of State for Scotland, Alister Jack, who is supportive of the PM, was “much more substantial and important”.

He was then asked by Kevin Brennan, the Labour MP for Cardiff West: “Following his disparaging remarks about the leader of the Scottish Conservatives, can we have a statement from him about exactly what he meant by that.

“For example, does he think the leader of the Welsh Conservatives is a ‘lightweight figure’, and can he name him?”

After Jacob Rees-Mogg named Simon Hart rather than Andrew RT Davies, a Welsh Government minister reacted on social media.

“After all the cap doffing the Welsh Tories have done the posh boys still won’t play with them,” Deputy Climate Change Minister Lee Waters said.

heard it live and laughed out loud #RTDavies is irrelevant to the Tory Toffs as is Wales and Scotland. Lets be honest the only reason N Ireland is still being talked about post Brexit is the Irish Lobby in USA.

It seems, despite the fact RTD received an English Public School education, albeit of a lower league status, it counts for nothing. It’s Eton or nothing, otherwise all and sundry are lightweights and brown nosing is pointless. If this doesn’t open his eyes to reality, I wonder what it will take for RTD to realize that the UK is not so “precious” after all.

Cymru and Scotland are ‘precious’ when there is something precious to extract from them …. Coal, oil, gold, slate, copper and the new oil – renewable energy

You make an important point. The Westminster and English public school types need to be constantly reminded of this when they patronisingly and disparagingly claim that the Welsh are living off English “largesse”. Max Hastings comes to mind in recent times when he used this term in this way to describe the Welsh. He thought he was being very erudite and clever using this posh word for “hand-out”. No doubt thinking the Welsh won’t have such a posh word in their vocabulary. Unfortunately, RTD knows this literate meaning because he is often known to support the English in this belief.

R2D2 is an astromech droid.

Ergo, he can’t think for himself and needs to be programmed from Westminster. The fact that the programmers themselves are clueless as to his existence speaks volumes.

If they have no thought for their own creations, what concerns do they have for Cymru and the rest of us?

In the Scots vernacular, “the square root of hee-haw”.

It is the ignominy of Smugg saying Dross was a lightweight but not even knowing Retweet at all. Oh the shame.

I find it heartily amusing that he is as insignificant to his masters in London as he is to most people in Wales. Massive sycophant, anti Welsh and a man who managed to get two Tory areas including his own constituency to vote remain in 2016 – an incredible waste of blood bone and flesh.

You forgot to add ‘oxygen’.

Now will the so-called ‘Welsh’ Conservative Party see how much you really mean to your London masters?

If a senior Tory MP didn’t even bother to learn the name of their Senedd leader, how much do you think they would bother to learn – or care – anything about Wales and our people?

Brennan had Rees-Mogg by the goolies and gave a good squeeze. Almost worth the licence fee.

When I heard ignorant Jacob Rees-Smug not know the name of the Welsh Conservative leader in Wales made my day. It shows you how out of touch the Conservatives are.

We then had sycophant Andrew RT Davies give his undying support for Boris Johnson over the Partygate scandal. And it’s highly likely that bumbling Boris hasn’t even got a clue who the hell he is, lol. Pitiful to witness.

This is a central truth of the Wales ~ Westminster relationship…that everyone needs to grasp….they are barely aware of our existence and care even less for our welfare….our needs will never, I repeat NEVER come before theirs – they are deceitful expoiters who can never be trusted.

There is only one way to improve our lot and that is INDEPENDENCE.
