‘Rhagorol!’ Welsh language features in new Tesco Christmas ad
Tesco’s new Christmas advert features some Welsh as one of the characters declares Santa’s decision to scrap the naughty list for the year to be ‘Rhagorol!’
The advert which was was broadcast for the first time on Saturday, shows people confessing to ‘naughty’ things they did in lockdown, such as giving their sisters ‘bad hair cuts’ or forgetting to sing ‘happy birthday’ while washing their hands.
In the background, Britney Spears’ hit “Oops!… I Did It Again” plays in the background.
But Sion Corn tells them all is forgiven as 2020 has been such a difficult year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A character with a Welsh accent holding a turkey is heard to declare: ‘I once forgot to sing Happy Birthday when I washed my hands.’
The same character is later seen in close-up studying his turkey and declares the situation to be ‘Rhagorol!’ which the subtitles translate as ‘Superb!’
