Robbie Savage delivers withering put down of Boris Johnson after he neglects to wish Wales luck
Robbie Savage has sent a message to Boris Johnson after the Prime Minister wishesd England and Scotland – but not Wales – luck at Euro 2020.
The pundit and former Welsh international midfielder reminded Boris Johnson that England were knocked out against Iceland in the last tournament, while Wales reached the semi-final.
Speaking at halftime during the Italy v Turkey opening match, Gary Lineker had asked Robbie Savage: “What will be a successful tournament for Wales – get through the group stage?”
“Yes I think so, if they can,” Robbie Savage said. “You know, if Boris Johnson’s watching tomorrow, Wales are in the tournament. If we can get through to the last 16, that will be good.
“Little old Wales again. I think Boris should realise that England got knocked out against Iceland in the last Euros, and Wales got to the semi-final. But hey.”

Robbie Savage’s comments came after Boris Johnson wished England and Scotland luck at Euro 2020 in the House of Commons on Wednesday, but failed to mention Wales.
The international football tournament was brought up at a session of Prime Minister’s Questions by the leader of the SNP in the House of Commons, Ian Blackford.
Blackford wished “all the best” Scotland, which to prompted Boris Johnson to do so too, as well as to England, and “all the home nations who may be playing”.
The Welsh national team is currently in their training camp in Baku in Azerbaijan, preparing for the competition, which is due to kick off on June 11.
Ian Blackford said: “I’m sure we’re all looking forward to the European Championships kicking off later this week.
“Can I take the opportunity to wish all the best to our country, Scotland, Steve Clarke and the team, and to remind the team it is time for heroes?”
Boris Johnson replied: “Can I by the way Mr Speaker wish all the very best to Scotland, and England, and all the home nations who may be playing in this…”
Pointing at Ian Blackford he added: I don’t know whether he is going to reciprocate Mr Speaker. But you never know. It’s worth a shot I thought. Oh, he did. There you go. That’s nice of him.”

Johnson was miffed because Blackford wished luck to only Scotland. That’s why he stepped in with his “all the home nations” bit, but he had to almost pester Blackford to give a single nod of his head in agreement, which Johnson chose to interpret as Blackford reciprocating. I very much doubt Johnson even knew whether Wales and Northern Ireland were or weren’t playing in the tournament and tried to cover his ignorance with the ‘all the home nations who may be playing’ reply as an afterthought. Wales is a Labour run irrelevance and Northern Ireland is a nuisance. The ‘union’ is England and Scotland and he doesn’t want that to break up on his watch.
