Ryan Reynolds has said he’s not behind a Hollywood-style Wrexham sign that has appeared on the outskirts of the town.

The Wrexham AFC co-owner has responded to speculation that he is responsible for the giant sign resembling iconic white letters on the Hollywood hills that has been set up on Bersham Bank overlooking the A483.

Wrexham Council has denied that it had anything to do with it, which led many to conclude that it was the work of Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

After the Leader asked Reynolds if he had anything to do with the sign, he replied: “I wish I’d thought of that. But if I were to really dig into it, I wish I wasn’t someone who wished they’d thought of that.”

‘Similar’

A similar sign saying ‘Llanrwst’ appeared when the Eisteddfod visited Conwy in 2019.

The sign attracted mostly positive comments, but some expressed disappointment that the Welsh language original name ‘Wrecsam’ wasn’t also included.

“Would of loved ‘Wrecsam’ added too,” Geraint Rogers said.

“Hopefully still time, there’s defo the room!” Wrexham councillor Carrie Harper replied.
