S4C knocked off air after London transmission centre evacuated due to fire
Welsh language channel S4C was temporarily knocked off air after a London transmission facility that plays out programmes and adverts was evacuated.
Television channels including Channel 4 and Channel 5 were also disrupted by the outage.
“Unfortunately following a fire at a center distributing our pictures in London we are experiencing technical problems – apologies,” S4C said.
Social media users said the transmission facility is White City, the former BBC headquarters which is now used by independent studios and production companies.
“Channel 4 and More 4 are currently off air due to a technical problem,” the channel tweeted. “We are working to restore them as quickly as possible.”
Viewers started reporting outages at around 6.30pm on Saturday.

S4C, Channel 4, Channel 5 and others all out bcos of a fire in a room. It’s ridiculous in this day and age there is no back up plan and that all these channels are dependent on a small room somewhere.
