Tafwyl: ‘Wonderful to see people enjoying a bit of normality again’

So said Manon Rees O’Brien, chief executive of Tafwyl festival organisers Menter Caerdydd, after a designated 500 people enjoyed the entertainment and sunshine at this year’s show at Cardiff Castle yesterday.
Thousands more were able to follow the event as it was filmed on social media platform AM.
The Welsh language festival was the second of nine pilot events unveiled by the Welsh Government on Tuesday as part of a trial to see if it was possible to stage live events once more in the middle of a pandemic.
Seventeen bands and singers curated by Clwb Ifor Bach played on three stages – including Mared, Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog, Ani Glass, Gwilym, and Breichiau Hir.
Cardiff’s Geraint Jarman was the headline act.

DJ Gareth Potter played a two-hour set of dancefloor favourites from Clwb Ifor Bach.
It was hosted by Seren Jones, Tara Bethan and the BBC’s Huw Stephens.
The festival had many events lined up for the enjoyment of adults, families and children with events such as a yoga session with Tara Bethan also continuing today.
All the festival-goers had to ensure that they had taken a Covid test and had to remain seated while food and drinks were brought to their tables.
The Welsh government unveiled nine pilot test events on Tuesday, including the Wales-Albania international friendly in June.
However, it was criticised by Plaid Cymru who said there were no events “north of Brecon.”

June 5 Wales v Albania, Cardiff City stadium – 4,000
June 11-12 Fishguard/St David’s triathlon – only registered participants
