Voters may already believe that politicians are all full of hot air, but a chillier westerly gust of wind is on the cards too as parties prepare for a final push to get voters to the polling station on Thursday.

The Met Office have announced a yellow weather warning for wind in Wales for the new week. The “spell of disruptive wind” applies to all of the country apart from Anglesey, the north-east and nothern Powys, from midday tomorrow until 9am on Tuesday.

They are warning of some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely, with some bus and train services affected. Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely.

The warning was announced yesterday but updated today to cover more of inland Wales.

The weather is then expected to improve by Wednesday, with polling day for the Senedd election on Thursday looking cloudy with isolated showers.

In the meantime, damage to outdoor temporary structures is possible, with some tree branches down too. It’s also likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.
