Ynys Môn MP among top ten members who claimed most in utilities expenses last year

Ynys Môn’s MP Virginia Crosbie has been found to be among the Members of Parliament who claimed the most for their utilities, such as electricity and heating, in the 2020-21 financial year.

MPs who represent seats outside London can claim back an ‘accommodation budget,’ including rent and bills. If an MP owns the second property, they cannot use the budget for mortgage payments or rent, but they can claim a proportion of utility costs.

According to the published figures, Virginia Crosbie claimed a total of £2,634.12 in utilities last year.

She told the Daily Mail: “I was living and working on Anglesey during the lockdown in 2020 with my husband and three children. My home is an old farmhouse. I stopped claiming for utilities at the beginning of the 2021 financial year.”

Virginia Crosbie was sixth on the list of top claimants. The largest total was claimed by Stuart Anderson, MP for Wolverhampton South West, at £3,598.

A total of 316 of the 650 MPs put in utilities claims in 2020-2021, with the total claimed for gas and electricity reaching £206,717.

The figures are published every year by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority.

On Tuesday Virginia Crosbie voted against a Labour motion calling on the UK Government to cut the rate of VAT for household energy bills.

A couple of weeks ago, the telegraph ran a story claiming that Welsh and Scottish people are INCAPABLE of governing themselves. They insisted that this incapability was because of where they came from. A down the line example of pure racism. She shared the piece on her own page. She wrote that she agreed. Conclusion:. She is a racist.

It is true. It happened. Check her feed. Read the article. Or don’t. It does not matter. It is true all the same.

There is not really any ‘Anti Wales/Welsh’ comment that you can write, that I have not read hundreds of times before. Dripping contempt is the norm from those who are eternally hostile to the continuing existence of the country.

Did you know that she has already written articles for the far right tea party group? You can check that as well. Perhaps that is something you find attractive?

Isn’t the house she rents owned by another Tory MP, the Anglesey property baron Jake Berry? She could, of course, simply have found a cheaper home for the state to subsidise if she was so concerned about costs…

What is it with ones who can afford but choose to screw the public purse?

You or I pay our way in life when it comes to electric, gas or water bills, but our Tory tick from Ynys Mon on over £80k+ per year Inc expenses opts to claw back the money makes me steam with anger!

If the voters of Mam Cymru don’t eject this freeloader from office are not only doing themselves a disservice but Wales too.

You’re all being terribly nasty and unfair towards the lady – she’s been suffering from fuel poverty.

To answer your question – wealthy Tory incomers who have forced out the native Welsh population. The same has happened wherever you find a Tory constituency in Wales. It makes our continued fight for independence that much harder, however … ry’ ni yma o hyd!
