Aled ap Dafydd, Ymgeisydd Plaid Cymru ar Ynys Môn

Ysgrifennaf atoch fel yr unig ymgeisydd dros Ynys Môn yn yr etholiad hwn sy’n glir am yr angen i Gymru aros yn yr Undeb Ewropeaidd.

Yn dilyn penderfyniad y Gwyrddion a’r Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol i sefyll o’r neilltu er mwyn cymeradwyo Plaid Cymru, mae gennym ni drefniant sy’n adlewyrchu’r math o wleidyddiaeth aeddfed sydd ei angen yn dilyn blynyddoedd o gecru yn San Steffan.

Nid oedd yn benderfyniad hawdd – mae system bleidleisio hen-ffasiwn ‘cynta i’r felin’ San Steffan yn gwneud gweithio trawsbleidiol yn anodd mewn Etholiadau Cyffredinol.

Mae’n system sy’n annog tribaliaeth a ffraeo yn hytrach na chydweithredu a chyfaddawdu. Mae wedi cyfrannu i wneud ein gwleidyddiaeth yn fwy gwenwynig dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf, gan wneud “ennill” yn bwysicach na dod o hyd i atebion cyffredin i’n problemau cyffredin.

Bydd gadael yr Undeb Ewropeaidd yn drychineb i ni ym Môn. Mae pobl a busnesau’r ynys wedi elwa o nifer o gynlluniau wedi’u hariannu gan yr Undeb Ewropeaidd, fel Prentisiaethau, Sgiliau ar gyfer Cyflogwyr a Gweithwyr, ac Ehangu Gorwelion Môn. Ers 2007, mae tua 1,400 o swyddi wedi cael eu creu, dros 2,100 o bobl wedi cael eu helpu i gael swyddi a dros 9,000 o gymwysterau wedi cael eu hennill.

Mae hynny cyn i ni hyd yn oed ystyried y ffin galed a fydd yn cael ei gosod yng Nghaergybi oherwydd cytundeb ymadael Boris Johnson. Byddai’n rhaid i gludwyr sy’n mynd â nwyddau dros y môr i Iwerddon adael i arolygwyr wirio eu lorïau i sicrhau bod eu llwythi yn cydymffurfio â rheolau’r UE.

Bydd yn rhaid iddynt hefyd lenwi datganiadau tollau. Bydd hyn i gyd yn achosi oedi hir yn y porthladd, a fyddai’n sicr yn arwain at arallgyfeirio masnach i borthladdoedd eraill yn y dyfodol.

Gyda’r Torïaid a Phlaid Brexit, byddwn yn cael niwed economaidd di-baid, gan gyfyngu ar gyfleoedd pobl ifanc ac achosi anhrefn i Gaergybi.

A gyda Llafur, y cyfan a gawn ni ydi dryswch. Mae eu hymgeisydd ym Môn wedi bod yn amheus o dawel ar yr hyn y mae hi’n ei feddwl ar Brexit. Wrth gwrs, nid yw Llafur yn blaid sydd eisiau Aros – fel y cadarnhaon nhw eto’r wythnos hon, gallen nhw ymgyrchu i adael ar ôl iddyn nhw ail-drafod bargen. Bydd hyd yn oed eu hymgeiswyr sydd dros Aros yn sefyll ar faniffesto sy’n amwys ar gwestiwn mwyaf y dydd.

Gyda’n gilydd, mae Plaid Cymru, y Gwyrddion a’r Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol wedi dod o hyd i drefniant cadarnhaol er budd pobl Ynys Môn. Trwy bleidleisio dros Blaid Cymru, gallwch warantu y byddwch yn cefnogi ymgeisydd sydd o blaid Ewrop, a fydd wastad ar ochr gweithwyr Môn.

Dwi’n apelio ar bleidleiswyr o bob plaid ar yr ynys: i amddiffyn buddiannau ein hynys, ystyriwch bleidleisio dros Blaid Cymru yn yr etholiad hwn.

Aled ap Dafydd, Plaid Cymru’s Parliamentary candidate in Ynys Môn

I am writing to you as the only candidate for Ynys Môn in this election who is clear about the need for Wales to remain in the European Union.

Thanks to the Greens and the Liberal Democrats standing aside to endorse Plaid Cymru, we have an arrangement that reflects the kind of grown-up politics that has been sorely lacking over the past few years.

It wasn’t an easy decision – Westminster’s archaic ‘first past the post system’ makes working together cross-party for General Elections difficult.

It encourages tribalism and a reluctance to even acknowledge the merits of cooperation and compromise in politics. The ‘winner takes all’ idea behind the Westminster voting system has in many ways made our politics more toxic, making “winning” more important than finding common solutions to our common problems.

Leaving the European Union will be a disaster for us in Môn. People and businesses here have benefited from several EU funded schemes, such as Apprenticeships, Skills for Employers and Employees, and Expanding Môn’s Horizons. Since 2007, some 1,400 jobs have been created, over 2,100 people helped to get jobs and over 9,000 qualifications gained through EU projects.

That’s before we even consider the hard border that will be put up in Holyhead due to Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal. Hauliers taking goods across the sea would have to let inspectors check their lorries to ensure their loads comply with EU rules. They will also have to fill out customs declarations. This all will lead to long delays at the port, which will eventually lead to traders choosing alternative routes.

With the Tories and the Brexit Party, we will get untold economic harm, limiting the opportunities of young people and causing chaos for Holyhead.

Those thinking of voting Labour will be blindfolded at the ballot box. Their candidate has been suspiciously silent on what she thinks on Brexit. Of course, Labour are not a pro-Remain party – as they confirmed again this week, they could well campaign to leave after they have supposedly re-negotiated a deal. Even their pro-Remain candidates will stand on a manifesto that is ambivalent on the biggest question of the day.

Together, Plaid Cymru, the Greens and the Lib Dems have found a way to a positive arrangement in the interests of the people of Ynys Môn. By voting for Plaid Cymru, you can guarantee you will be backing a pro-European candidate, who will always be on the side of working people.

I appeal to voters of all parties on the island: to protect our island’s interests, please consider voting for Plaid Cymru in this election.
