Whisper it quietly Wales fans but we might have Gareth Bale fit to play in the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Those homes games against Belarus and Belgium will decide Wales’ fate in Group E and their ongoing quest to qualify for a first World Cup tournament since 1958.

When their talisman Bale suffered a serious grade 4 hamstring tear in training last month fears were high that he would be ruled out of the November qualifiers.

Yesterday he was named in Robert Page’s World Cup squad, and tonight his Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti gave a hopeful prognosis about Bale’s chances of playing for Wales and reaching 100 caps for his country.

Speaking to the press in Madrid he said: “Yes the player is fully recovered. We are delighted that he is playing for the national team, because if he accumulates minutes he can return in better condition.

“He has had a significant injury, he has needed recovery time. He can train ahead of Rayo (on Saturday). His national team calls him because they need him. There they will have to evaluate if he can play or not.”

Sensible

Aaron Ramsey has also been named in the Wales squad despite not playing for his club Juventus in recent games due to muscle fatigue.

However, Wales boss Robert Page is hopeful he will be fit for these pivotal fixtures.

He said: “Aaron Ramsey is learning to manage his body. He identified muscle fatigue and took himself out, which is sensible, maybe five years ago he would have played and then broken down.”

“He did it for the last camp and I don’t see any change for this one, he played both games last month and I thought he was magnificent.”

Wales play Belarus on Saturday, November 16 and Belgium on Tuesday, November 19.
