Rob McElhenney has said Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch perfectly.

The Wrexham co-owner showed off some of his Welsh skills during a press conference at the Wrexham AFC’s Racecourse Ground, rattling off the name of the famous Anglesey village

He arrived in the town for the first time with fellow owner Ryan Reynolds ahead of a home match against Torquay over the weekend.

It is believed to be longest place name in Europe and the second longest one-word place name in the world.

In Welsh he said: “I don’t speak Welsh yet.”

Then in English he said: “My one party trick is the name of the longest town. I believe I can say it correctly.”

He then went on to say: “Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.”

Ryan Reynolds then said: “I will not attempt that I promise.”

Rob also said: ““I wasn’t massively well acquainted with Wales, but I had Welsh friends, I heard the Welsh national anthem and it’s the most beautiful anthem and Welsh is a beautiful language.”

‘Warm reception’

Rob’s efforts received a warm reception.

Phil Prydderch said: “Fair play Rob, well done. Impressive. He’s made a really big effort with his Welsh, and has sent a few tweets in it too. That’s going the extra mile as a new owner. He’s all in!”

Dean Jones said: “Great to see guys coming here and actually immersing themselves into the culture and not just seeing it as business.”
