Josh Adams will miss Wales’ autumn internationals against New Zealand and South Africa after being handed a three-match ban for his red card against Japan.

The Cardiff wing was dismissed just before half-time in Saturday’s 24-23 win at the Principality Stadium following a dangerous clearout on Kippei Ishida.

An independent disciplinary committee deemed the challenge, which made contact with the head of Ishida, to be “reckless” and determined a six-match suspension was appropriate.

However, the sanction was halved due to Adams accepting he committed an act of foul play and showing remorse, in addition to his previous good record.

Adams, 30, must also sit out his club’s European Challenge Cup fixture at Stade Francais on Saturday, December 6, unless he completes World Rugby’s Coaching Intervention Programme.
