OUR VISION
A truly national daily news service for Wales. News relevant to Wales for the nation of Wales.
Despite having its own national government, parliament, museums, libraries, and all the other institutions a nation should have, Wales still lacks a truly national news service.
Most people in Wales continue to get their news from news media outside Wales which make little mention of us.
We want to change that, and create a truly national news media that’s accessible to all – that means no pop ups or paywalls.
We’re making it happen. And thanks to your support, we’re growing every month both in audience and content.
So far, 19m readers have visited the site – a staggering testament to the support we’ve already received.
WHAT WE’VE ACHIEVED SO FAR
Our readers’ donations have already had a positive influence, driving public engagement and ensuring that politicians hear what the people of Wales have to say.
We pride ourselves on content that grabs people’s attention and investigative journalism that holds power to account.
Thanks to your support we’re also rapidly developing our culture and sport coverage.
However, there is so much more we can do with your help.
With 2,000 supporters we’d be closer than ever to realising our dream of creating a lasting Welsh national media worthy of the name.
But it all depends on you, our readers, and your support to expand our service yet further.
To keep growing, we need your support.
Monthly, rolling contributions are particularly useful to us as they will give us the financial security, in the long run, to employ journalists to work full-time on the site.
£3 a month isn’t much for most people, but if 2,000 people gave £3 a month that is £72,000 – almost enough to employ four full-time journalists.
If 20,000 people gave £3 a month that’s three-quarters of a million pounds a year and Wales would have a national news service worthy of the name.
We are not for profit and an independent media company owned entirely within Wales. This means that not a penny will go to shareholders as with many other media companies – it will all stay in Wales and be invested back into making it the best news service it possibly can be.
There’s nothing stopping us from achieving this apart from ourselves. The power is in our collective hands.
