Watch: Queen caught on Senedd microphone criticising ‘talk and no action’ on climate change

The Queen was caught on a microphone saying she was annoyed by people who talk about climate change but then do nothing about it, while opening Wales’ Senedd yesterday.

The conversation between the Queen and Ceredigion Senedd Member and Llywydd Elin Jones was picked up on the official feed of the event.

“Extraordinary isn’t it. I’ve been hearing all about Cop [the climate conference in Glasgow next month]… still don’t know who is coming… no idea.” She turned to Jones and said: “We only know about people who are not coming… it is very irritating when they talk, but they don’t do.”

Elin Jones was heard to reply: “Exactly, and it’s a time for doing, and watching your grandson [the Duke of Cambridge] on television this morning saying there is no point going to space, we need to save the earth.”

The Queen replied: “Yes, I read about it.”

Her words echoed those of her grandson Prince Wiliam who had criticised billionaires such as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos for pioneering space tourism instead of focusing on the environmental problems.

“We need some of the world’s greatest brains and minds fixed on trying to repair this planet, not trying to find the next place to go and live,” he had said.

“I think for Cop to communicate very clearly and very honestly what the problems are and what the solutions are going to be is critical.

“We can’t have more clever speak, clever words but not enough action.”

Of course this is the same Queen who lobbied for special exemptions for her estates from green legislation. See:

I wonder what the environmental impact of building and sending these space tourist containers into orbit are, just so a few old rich men can pretend to be astronauts

Well, the USA reduced taxes, Reagan era, so wealth would trickle down and instead it’s rocketing up.

It would make a good final series for the Crown if the Queen turned left-wing in her old age, and shadowy powers tried to argue she had dementia despite her continued excellent health, and appoint for example Jacob Rees-Mogg as Regent.

Don’t encourage the fantasists. Too many of our politicians are guided by the fiction they watch and read already.

Did she and her huge entourage walk to Cardiff then?
