14 May 2021 2 minute read

An S4C extreme science series is featuring on a website that creates and offers educational resources for children.

The Welsh language broadcaster has teamed up with Twinkl’s to create a package of resources centered on the Boom television show.

Twinkl’s teacher-created resources provide entire schemes of work, lesson planning and assessments as well as online educational games, and augmented reality

Brand new resources for the science series Boom will be available to use and download for free on Twinkl’s website.

Boom, which is presented by brothers Rhys and Aled Bidder is a series full of scientific experiments, and includes plenty of flames and explosions.

Twinkl has created educational resources to correspond with the latest series in order to encourage children’s interest and curiosity in the subject.

‘Exciting’

Sioned Wyn Roberts, S4C’s Children’s and Learning Content Commissioner, said: “The extreme science series Boom is very popular on Stwnsh. But now, thanks to Twinkl, an exciting package of educational resources are available to correspond with the series. Children can therefore enjoy the content and learn at the same time.

“As a public broadcaster, it’s very important that our factual content is used in schools as part of quality resources created by teachers and subject specialists.

“I would like to thank Twinkl and Boom Kids for their cooperation as we establish this exciting partnership.”

Sioned Beamer, Wales Country Manager for Twinkl, said: “Our mission at Twinkl Cymru is to provide high-quality content for Welsh-medium educators and those who teach in Wales – helping those who teach is at the heart of everything we do.

“As soon as we watched Boom!, we couldn’t wait to start creating resources. They are the perfect combination of entertaining and educational!

“We’re very proud to partner with S4C and Boom Kids to create resources that directly support the Curriculum for Wales and promote the Welsh language.”

These brand-new resources are available to use and download for free on Twinkl’s website from May onwards (www.twinkl.co.uk). The new series of Boom is on Stwnsh every Wednesday at 5.45pm and on demand on S4C Clic.
