Storm overflow sparks water quality fears at popular beach

A “potential storm overflow discharge” at a popular beach has sparked an investigation.
Environmental watchdog Natural Resources Wales said they were carrying out a probe into the reported incident over the weekend.
The incident is reported to have happened at Llandudno’s North Shore beach.
However, Dŵr Cymru (Welsh Water) said there had been “no wastewater spills” in the area.

A spokesperson for Natural Resources Wales said: “We are aware of reports of a potential storm overflow discharge at Llandudno North Shore.
“We have been in contact with Dŵr Cymru (Welsh Water) and are carrying out an investigation.
“We encourage people to report any incidents impacting on our rivers and bathing waters to our incident hotline on 0300 065 3000 or through our online ‘report it’ form.”
A spokeswoman for Conwy County Council confirmed the authority was aware of the incident.
“We’ve been advised that Dŵr Cymru (Welsh Water) and NRW are investigating the report of a water quality alert at this location,” she said.
A spokesman for Dŵr Cymru (Welsh Water) said: “There were no wastewater spills in the Llandudno area over the weekend.”
