Welsh Gov issues direction for closure of Swansea cinema under Covid Act

26 Nov 2021 1 minute read

The Welsh Government has issued a direction for the closure of Cinema & Co in Swansea on public health grounds.

Under the Coronavirus Act 2020, the Welsh Minsters have powers to take action against specific premises where they consider the premises to present a risk to public health.

To support Swansea Council and to protect public health, Welsh Ministers have issued a direction under the Act for the closure of Cinema & Co in Swansea.

Recently the Local Authority identified a series of breaches of the Coronavirus Regulations at the premises.

The premises was previously served with a notice requiring it to close due to the risk to public health.

As the owner has chosen not to comply with this legal requirement, Welsh Ministers have taken further enforcement action.

The Welsh Government has said it will not be commenting further on ongoing legal proceedings.

Richard Taylor also pocketing tens of thousands of pounds for the owners and himself. Hope the hard right and the nutters championing this realise they were going under anyway and made a nice little sum off of them.

As one who lost a family member to Covid in January, are seething with anger, not only with ignorant cinema owner in Swansea who flagrantly ignored rules put in place to stop the spread of this deadly virus, who I hope receives her just deserts soon after her non court appearance, but also the unvaccinated who refuse to wear masks that quote, It’s their human rights and freedom. No it isn’t. Stop being reckless & selfish.

As someone who lost a close family member and a friend as a result of unnecessary Lockdowns, I have a right to disagree. Take a look at Sweden, the Elephant in the room. They did not partake in any of the Panic politics and have saved endless Swedish lives as a result.

If I was visiting this cinema, I think I’d also be concerned the owner might have taken a ‘libertarian’ view of other safety regulations and locked the fire escape or recycled the popcorn
