Gavin & Stacey star to headline A-Level results night at Cardiff venue

Oh! What’s Occurrin’? One of the UK’s best-loved TV stars is set to help thousands of students celebrate A-Level Results Day.

Gavin & Stacey star Mathew Horne takes over the decks for an exclusive DJ set at Cardiff hotspot, The Philharmonic.

Whether they’re celebrating a tidy set of A-level results or simply toasting the end of exam season, students can dance the night away as Mathew, aka screen favourite Gavlaar, swaps the screen for the decks for one night only.

A-level results day – which is on Thursday, August 13 – is one of the biggest nights of the year for students, marking the end of months of hard work, revision and anticipation. After the nerves of collecting their grades, thousands of young people across the country come together to celebrate their achievements, reunite with friends and look ahead to the next chapter of their journey.

Guests can expect a night of unforgettable celebrations, with a headline DJ set, immersive lighting, confetti and spectacular CO₂ effects creating a festival atmosphere in the heart of Cardiff.

The Philharmonic is run by independent pub company Croeso, which also runs Retro, Brewhouse, Blue Bell, Daffodil, The Dock in Cardiff Bay’s Mermaid Quay, and community pubs The Discovery in Lakeside and The Bear’s Head in Penarth.

Rubell Khan, General Manager of The Philharmonic, said: “Results Day is one of the biggest celebrations in the calendar and we wanted to make this year’s event bigger than ever. It’s a milestone moment for thousands of students who have worked incredibly hard and deserve the chance to celebrate with their friends after months of dedication and hard work.

“Mathew Horne is an icon for so many people, and his Gavin & Stacey connection makes him the perfect person to help us mark the occasion. We know it’s going to be an unforgettable night, with an incredible atmosphere, great music and loads of memories made.”
