Green Man draws to a close and gives away date of 2027 event ticket launch

Green Man 2026 drew to a close last night, proving exactly why the festival continuously sells out within minutes of ticket release and remains one of the UK’s most highly regarded and must-attend festivals.

In a world dominated by screens, corporations and isolation, Green Man remains entirely independent, prioritising curious minds and a sense of community.

In doing so, its freedom of curation, relaxing and friendly atmosphere and ever-evolving programme of music, science, arts, comedy, films, literature, workshops, wellness and so much more, ensures that festival goers of all ages and all tastes can leave Wales with new discoveries, lifelong friendships, and special memories year after year.

The festival has announced its intention to return to Bannau Brycheiniog from 19 – 22 August 2027, marking its 25th Anniversary.

The final night saw the mighty Wolf Alice making their first ever appearance at the Welsh festival. Headlining the Mountain Stage, the 2026 BRIT Award winners stormed through the evening, celebrating the first anniversary of The Clearing and a catalogue of indie anthems spanning through to My Love Is Cool.

Hopping from hit to hit, whether the raucous rock of ‘Yuk Foo’ or ‘Play The Greatest Hits’ or the fuzzy warmth of their ode to friendship, ‘Bros’; Ellie Rowsell held Green Man in the palm of her hand. Introducing Anna Calvi and Dove Ellie to the stage, the Welsh mountains performed their recent collaborative single for HELP(2), ‘Sunday Light’ before blowing the night away with a breathtaking cover of Mazzy Star’s ‘Fade Into You’.

A closing run of ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’ – now firmly rooted as the soundtrack to another incredible Green Man – into ‘Moaning Lisa Smile’, ‘You’re a Germ’ and ‘Giant Peach’ delivered the perfect closing nostalgia, marking the band’s debut Green Man performance as one for the history books.

The Cinedrome tent hosted a series of special guests for the closing day, with Welsh actor and director Craig Roberts joining Green Man goers for a showing of the iconic coming of age film Submarine, in which he plays the lead character; and film and TV remained a theme throughout the day, with Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams joining Welsh producer and filmmaker Lowri Roberts at the Talking Shop; later followed by a special Guardian Live session with actress and musician Samantha Morton, who talked Kate Hutchinson through the ‘Honest Playlist’ of her life and career.

Samantha Morton made another Green Man appearance later in the day, as one of the special guests for Richard Russell’s Everything Is Recorded set on the Mountain Stage. The pair performed their track ‘You Were Smiling’ to a sun-soaked arena, while further Sunday highlights for 2026 included Cat Power, celebrating 20 years of The Greatest with a stop on her anniversary tour; a compelling performance from singer-songwriter, composer, and virtuoso guitarist Anna Calvi.

Mercury Prize-nominated Dove Ellis dropped by the Mountain Stage for his debut Green Man performance; while fellow Mercury nominees Knats opened Far Out with their “Geordie-Jazz”. New York duo Fcukers brought any sleepy Sunday heads back to full health as they transformed the canopy of Far Out into the dancefloor, with the likes of ‘Beatback’ and ‘Play Me’ hypnotising a packed out crowd. They were followed by Sparks, whose high theatrics and witty art-pop made for a joyful and eccentric addition to the evening.

Topping off a high weekend full of guest appearances and special surprises, Class of 26 DJs at Round The Twist saw a double hit of B2B surprises with Alexis Taylor and Fcukers, followed by Way Dynamic and SNL UK star Jack Shep.
