Robert Plant and Saving Grace set to play christmas gig at Aberystwyth Arts Centre
Legendary Led Zeppelin front-man Robert Plant is to perform at Aberystwyth Arts Centre days before Christmas.
Robert Plant, who often visits the Aberystwyth area, will be performing at the Arts Centre with his new band, Saving Grace.
The band is described as a co-operative and features Robert Plant and Suzi Dian on vocals, percussionist, Oli Jefferson, Tony Kelsey on mandolin, baritone and acoustic guitars and Matt Worley on banjo, cuatro, acoustic and baritone guitars.
Robert Plant developed a connection with mid Wales in his childhood, when his family owned a holiday cottage called Bron yr Aur near Machynlleth.
When Led Zeppelin sought sanctuary there after a hectic world tour in 1970, they proceeded to write some of their best songs, including part of Stairway to Heaven.
He has often said that the rugged Welsh landscape in mid and west Wales helps inspire his writing.
Saving Grace was formed in 2019 and has performed across the UK this year, after a US tour planned for 2020 had to be cancelled due to Covid.
The five musicians work in harmony, reworking a selection of diverse cover versions that have been collected from various places to create a musical journey.
Tickets for the performance on Tuesday 21 December are £32.50 and are available on Aberystwyth Arts Centre’s website.
