A Welsh chef has posted an hilarious video behind the scenes of his new ‘food pilgrimage’ BBC series.

The BBC 1 series follows chef Chris ‘Flamebaster’ Roberts on a fiery culinary journey around Wales and beyond.

Known for his dramatic outdoor cooking style and signature “flamebasting” techniques, Roberts travels to towns, villages and scenic locations to showcase local produce, meet community members, and create large-scale open-fire dishes.

In the clip, Roberts is seen attempting to board a small boat on the River Teifi in west Wales, when he suddenly loses his balance and falls into the water.

His shocked reaction, followed by laughter from the crew, has quickly gone viral online.

He captioned the video: “BTS on the river Teifi, trying my hand at the ancient skill of coracle fishing. FLAMING FEASTS ON BBC iPLAYER NOW.”

The clip quickly drew a flurry of reactions online, with viewers enjoying the lighthearted behind-the-scenes moment.

One commenter said: “This is too good! I have a spare inhaler for anyone that needs it!”

Another added: “Quite surprised the cameramen held things together.”

Since its debut in 2025, Flaming Feasts has combined traditional Welsh cooking methods with open-flame techniques, wood-fired grills, and dramatic outdoor settings. Each episode offers a mix of culinary expertise and community engagement, from historic market towns to riverside villages.

Roberts’ passion for Welsh food and storytelling shines through, making the show as much about culture and heritage as it is about recipes.

The show made its return this month, the first episode sees Roberts visit Aberteifi in Cardigan.
