Welsh Strictly star shares heartbreaking admission in latest TV appearance

Welsh Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has shared an emotional insight into her hopes of becoming a mother following her breast cancer battle.

The Caerphilly-born professional dancer broke down in tears during the latest episode of Celebrity Hunted as she reflected on the lasting impact her diagnosis and treatment have had on her future.

While hiding out with fellow Strictly professional Carlos Gu, the pair visited dancer Neil Jones’ home, where spending time with his young daughter, Havana, prompted a heartfelt conversation about family and motherhood.

Becoming visibly emotional, Dowden admitted that having children has always been a dream but said she remains uncertain about whether it will become a reality.

She said: “I’ve always wanted the honour to be a mum, and obviously I don’t know if that’s going to be possible.”

Reflecting on her cancer journey, the 35-year-old said the experience had transformed her outlook on life.

She added: “I’ve been given another shot at life, and I want to embrace and take every opportunity that comes my way.”

Dowden has spoken openly about the impact cancer treatment has had on her fertility. Before beginning chemotherapy, she underwent fertility preservation after doctors warned the treatment could trigger an early menopause.

Since being told she had no evidence of disease, she has gradually returned to dancing and reunited with the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom.

Throughout her recovery, she has continued to speak openly about the physical and emotional challenges of cancer, becoming an ambassador for breast cancer awareness and encouraging others to check for signs of the disease.

Her appearance on Celebrity Hunted offers another candid glimpse into life after treatment. The dancer said she was keen to show viewers what life can be like after a cancer diagnosis, with cameras following her as she received chemotherapy injections while on the run.
