Correct, though the first time a national anthem was sung before any international match was Cymru defeating the first New Zealand All Blacks to become the original Rugby World Champions. The singing was started impromptu by the player who then scored the winning try. Because of this the national sport and national anthem have and always will hold a very strong bond.
