Braverman: immigrants ‘not embracing British values’
Suella Braverman has said some immigrants are “not embracing British values” and are living “parallel lives” to the rest of the country.
The Home Secretary, who has attracted criticism for suggesting multiculturalism has “failed”, said she would be “fearless” in identifying problems with integration.
She said there are “many towns and cities” where people from abroad are not learning English and “not taking part in British life”.
In a speech in the US last week, she attacked the “misguided dogma” of multiculturalism, saying it had “failed”.
Rishi Sunak declined to back her comments and former home secretary Dame Priti Patel suggested she may have said them simply to attract attention.
But on a visit to Bolton, Ms Braverman said: “It’s my job, first and foremost, to be honest and speak for the majority of the British people.
“And my comments have been somewhat mischaracterised.
“We have so much to be proud of. We have a great multi-ethnic society and in many parts of our country integration has worked.
“But there are also many towns and cities around the United Kingdom where it hasn’t and communities are living parallel lives.
“They are coming from abroad, they are not learning the language. They’re not embracing British values, and they’re not taking part in British life.
“And that needs to be identified, we must be fearless in calling that out and that’s my job.”

Don’t forget that the Tory party supports her, Sunak put her back in a cabinet post. Welsh Cons leader fully supports her. This is what the Tory party are now. They are supporting her values.
What Braverman doesn’t show us is how many immigrants actually do want to do an honest days work, who are legitimate refugees and who strive to fit in and learn the language. I’ve known many – they come here for a better life and will try and fit in to our culture as best as they can. This demonising of immigrants is wrong, they are not just a number and vote winner. Braverman may appeal to her zealot, right wing Tory followers but to the majority of us – she is barking mad and a bigot.

In the never ending hurricane of lies, here reads the beautiful truth and the reality of life on the ground which begs the question of Braverman et al, WHO is it exactly that lives ‘parallel lives’? Thank you for reminding us of who we all really are in the face of a brutal and orchestrated hate campaign designed to convince us otherwise.
Under her rules of counting, many of my family suddenly became immigrants, my kids children of an immigrant.. Guess as they are not into racism, exceptionalism and a class system nonsense, they don’t hold many British values lol. Her values are low, not my kind. So she can stick her British crap where she probably would enjoy it the most.
British values. What are they? We are listening to Suella Braverman using these words so that we associate them with her and so are left to conclude that these are not things to aspire to. Most people speak some level of English but her language comments will embolden her gammon faced worshippers to shout at people to speak English when they hear another language spoken. She says integration, she means assimilation. I wonder what chance she thinks she has of reintroducing the Welsh (k)not into Welsh medium schools. She’d have to buy enough of them to go round.
Suella sounds like a mad S.E Asia autocratic dictator. But that is exactly what she is. Maybe she ought to get a one way ticket to Myanmar or one of those other repressive regime states. If it wasn’t for the fact that she is female she’d be tailor made for a key role in the Taliban state or Iran. Free transfer ?

Embrace “British” values. Whose values? Do English people embrace Welsh values living in Wales? Hardly. Saying that, does the Conservative party practice what they preach?
Remember, it was only recently PM Rishy Sunak disrespected Wales by stating he still call Bannau Brycheiniog by its anglicised name, Brecon Beacons. So it’s, “do what we say and say what we do”.

As i understand it it was our British Values that allowed her family to come to the UK.
How can she say anything against welcoming migrants?
