Cardiff rapist jailed for 20 years

A rapist has been jailed after being convicted of 12 offences against two victims following separate trials.
Najat Ismail, 53, of Grangetown, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on August 4 to 20 years in prison with a further five years on extended licence.
Ismail was convicted of three counts of rape following a trial which concluded on April 20.
At a separate trial, which concluded on May 7, he was found guilty of a further nine counts of rape.
He has also been made subject to restraining orders relating to both victims.
South Wales Police said the extended sentence was imposed because of the seriousness of his offending.
DCI Geraint Higgins said: “Ismail is a dangerous predator, and I would like to thank the victims in these cases for their immense courage and strength in reporting Ismail’s actions to us and enabling us to get to this verdict today.
“I hope they find some comfort in the jail sentence given to him.”
