People should celebrate with members of their household if Wales do go on to win the Grand Slam this weekend, Health Minister Vaughan Gething has said.

Wales play France in Paris on Saturday with a potential Grand Slam or Six Nations Championship win in their sights.

“At the moment, the rules only allow us to meet outdoors – four people from two different households can meet outdoors,” Vaughan Gething said.

“I know many of you will be keen to watch the rugby this weekend – and to hopefully celebrate a Grand Slam.

“But please celebrate with members of your household only and keep coronavirus out.”

Vaughan Gething said cases and hospitalisations were continuing to fall but there were some communities, like Holyhead, where cases were up.

“These have helped to push up the case rate in Merthyr Tydfil, Anglesey and Conwy in particular,” he said.

“There are now just under 1,000 Covid-related patients in hospital – this is the first time we have dipped below the 1,000 mark for many months.”
