Campers pitch tent in dangerous spot next to railway tracks in Snowdonia
Campers who pitched their tent next to railway tracks in Snowdonia have sparked concern from locals.
The tent was pitched in a dangerous spot, just yards from the track of the Llanberis Lake Railway over the weekend.
The railway, which runs regular services along the shores of Llyn Padarn from its base at Gilfach Ddu, is a popular tourist attraction.
Photos of the tent were posted online and drew a reaction from locals.
Writing on Llanberis Community Group, Branwen Jones said: “Yes I saw this yesterday when walking my dogs, they got there before me and eat most of their BBQ left overs and sausages that had been left outside… 2x sick dogs later, I was not amused.”
‘Bit of a mad place’
Luce Kanon took a different view, saying: “No problem with camping as long as you leave the area clean. Bit of a mad place to pitch up considering Fachwen is right there”. Ian Hughes said:
“(This) takes the meaning of railway sleepers to a whole new level.”
James Carr said: “It will be our front garden next, and the law won’t let you kick them out”.
Simon Worth said: “Wow. This will be the first of many now!”
Kyle Collins added that this takes “train spotting to a new level”.
