Disgraced MP Rob Roberts ‘struggling to hire new staff’
Disgraced MP Rob Roberts is “having difficulties hiring people”, it has been suggested.
The Delyn MP, who was banned from Parliament for six weeks for sexual misconduct, is advertising for a senior parliamentary assistant on the Work4MP website.
Spectator columnist Steerpike has pointed to and “exceptionally high salary being offered” of between £36,575 to £52,067, which “might hint at the difficulties Roberts is having in recruiting new staff”.
He said: “It seems though that few now want to work for the Delyn backbencher, amid talk in Westminster of a ‘staffing crisis’ in his office.”
Roberts, who is currently suspended from the Conservative Party, was banned from Parliament for sexual misconduct towards a male member of staff. He also texted a junior female employee with an offer to “fool around with no strings”.
A former employee of Rob Roberts told Steerpike: “It’s no wonder he is having difficulties hiring people – the more surprising thing is the fact that he’s still an MP.”

Rob Roberts advert. “My new staff must be qualified. Able to run quick. And more importantly. Must not be too alluring. All CVs to be delivered to my private quarters personally. Wear something casual. Me..”
I can’t help thinking that David Woolfall’s photograph of ‘Sex Pest’ Roberts is one of the biggest assets in helping to bring Roberts dismal career to an end. He looks like a scruffy nere-do-well squeezed into a borrowed suite for his court appearance.
He still doesn’t get it does he! I still don’t get how the Conservatives picked him as a candidate. Presumably the red faced selection committee will have resigned and left by the back door, after dark, with a getaway car waiting.
