Farage’s tax affairs ‘irrelevant’ to voters – Tice

Nigel Farage’s tax affairs are “irrelevant” to voters, according to Reform UK MP Richard Tice.

The Reform UK leader said last year he had bought a home in his Clacton constituency, but it was later reported that his partner had actually made the purchase.

Questions about the purchase have resurfaced after Angela Rayner resigned on Friday over underpaying stamp duty, triggering a major Cabinet reshuffle.

Entitlement

Mr Farage said the resignation of the deputy prime minister over her tax affairs “screams to entitlement” during his speech to the Reform UK party conference in Birmingham.

Mr Tice, the party deputy, was asked on Saturday whether Mr Farage would be transparent about his tax affairs and address questions over his partner buying the Clacton home.

He told Times Radio: “I’m pleased to confirm I’m not his tax adviser. You’ll have to speak to them.

“It’s irrelevant to what voters are concentrating on, which is our messaging, which is the message of hope. We can get out of this nightmare that we’re in.”

Mr Farage has denied the arrangement had saved tax, telling The Mirror it was a “disgusting allegation” that is “unfair and untrue”.

Tax fraud

Separately, Mr Farage has also reportedly been using a private company to reduce how much tax he pays on his GB News media appearances and other work outside being an MP.

He has declared payments of more than £300,000 in the past year for hosting a show on the channel.

The Guardian reported that he diverts money earned from the show into his company, Thorn in the Side Ltd, meaning he paid only 25% corporation tax on profits rather than 40%.

The use of personal service companies is not illegal but has been criticised in recent years.

A spokesperson for Mr Farage told The Guardian: “Thorn in the Side Ltd has traded for 15 years and has a variety of interests. It renders the services of several contractors and is a properly functioning company.”

Nightmare of Farage’s own making. It all stems from Brexit

Use of limited company is legit, will continue to be legit until a Government is bold enough to make sweeping changes that snuff out so many legal loopholes. Until then there’s very little point in bawling about it although pressing your local M.P to start a campaign might be a good idea.

There are plenty of legitimate activities which can still topple a leader. Mr Gething didn’t break any rules.

Tax avoidance or tax evasion, either way, they don’t wish to pay much taxes. And that is not a good position to promote. Paying taxes should be an honour and feel like a privilege. In the end , we all benefit.

Farages’ tax affairs may be ‘irrelevant’ to Tice and Reform UK voters but when Angela Rayner has gone over what appears to be poor advice and a misunderstanding, HE should be investigated thoroughly. This could be the chance to get him removed and with the head cut off the snake, his sick cult will die. This is very much of relevance to millions of voters.

I guarantee you that he’s paid a very expensive tax lawyer to make sure that he can use the law to his own advantage to squeeze every opportunity to avoid paying taxes completely legally – that’s what the very rich do. He plays the “man in the street”, smoking a fag and drinking a pint, but he is a multimillionaire who thinks we’re all scum. The only reason he speaks to the “ordinary bloke in the pub” at all is because he’s desperate to be Prime Minister. Unfortunately, tax avoidance is not illegal and he’s not stupid enough to get… Read more »

I cannot disagree with any of that. Morality has long been dispatched from politics but not from me so as hard pressed as I am, not least due to my smoking and drinking habits, I can tell you in all sincerity that if I was stood in a pub smoking shelter suppin’ and puffin’ and ‘man ‘o the people’ Nige came to join me, I would stub out my just lit fag, tip my just bought pint and leave. That would be a useful waste of my meagre dosh just to make the point.

All Tories (light and dark blue) avoid ethical problems by simply abolishing ethics. Another legacy of empire because you can’t exploit the world any other way. And without a written constitution they’ll do the same again in 2029.

Farage and Trump are quick to bring others down for their own political gain and we all know both have done plenty of tax evasion but it’s swept under the carpet. We allow it, believing their BS. It’s time both countries woke up.

So Angela’s tax affairs are of public interest? But Farage affairs are ‘ of no interest’ Such double standards are sickening, one rule for wealthy ex public schoolboy Farage and another for council house dwelling comprehensive school girl Angela. WHY does shyster Farage get so much coverage? There are after all 650 MPS! What goes on here? He spends most of his time out of the Country , missed opening of Parliament, but that’s ok. because it’s Nigel!
