Job centre security guards to vote on more industrial action in pay row
Hundreds of job centre security guards are to ballot for further industrial action in a dispute over pay.
Around 600 members of the Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) employed by G4S for the Department for Work and Pensions have already taken 27 days of strike action and will walk out again for seven days on Monday and again on September 23.
The new ballot will start on September 17, with the result expected on September 27.
PCS general secretary Fran Heathcote said: “As G4S rake in profits, we’ve seen hundreds of our members left on the National Living Wage, denied a decent pay rise.
“We hope our members who every day risk their own safety to keep DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) staff and claimants safe will send a clear message to G4S to reject the company’s latest derisory pay offer.”
