Nation.Cymru will be delivering enhanced coverage of the Welsh Assembly and Welsh Government in partnership with Senedd Home from St. David’s Day onwards.

Owen Donovan of Senedd Home said that he was “delighted” to have agreed to the partnership which will keep Nation.Cymru’s readers updated on events in the Welsh parliament.

“Senedd Home often covers stories from Cardiff Bay which mainstream outlets with far greater resources at their disposal don’t,” he said.

“If Wales is to develop a new national media then co-operation is essential. Syndication is a way to do that without compromising on plurality.

“What Nation.Cymru has achieved in a relatively short space of time has been remarkable and a testament to the hard work of the people behind it.

“It offers a glimmer of hope that the decline in the Welsh media can be addressed and even reversed through our own collective efforts, as well as addressing the ‘democratic deficit’ when it comes to coverage of Welsh politics.

“I’m sure many people will agree that a tie in between Nation.Cymru and Senedd Home is a natural fit and I hope the service will further inform Nation.Cymru readers of what AMs are doing on their behalf.”

‘Exceptional’

Nation.Cymru editor Ifan Morgan Jones said that he looked forward to working with Senedd Home to ensure that the people of Wales were better informed about their parliament.

“We clearly have a problem in Wales in that most people don’t know much about what goes on at the Senedd from day to day,” he said.

“This isn’t anyone’s fault of course but rather reflects the fact that there is a dearth of coverage in the media about what happens there.

“Nation.Cymru is a voluntary service set up to try and tackle this problem. A partnership with Senedd Home, which is also very much a labour of love, makes perfect sense.

“The work done by Owen is exceptional and I have been told by Assembly Members that they depend on his impartial summaries of the day’s events, which is a testament to the high quality of the service he provides.

“Our ability to continue to grow this service depends on continued small donations from our readers, so if you have not already subscribed to Nation.Cymru we would very much appreciate it.”
