The leader of Plaid Cymru is taking a break from work and social media.

Adam Price said he is taking time over the next few weeks to be with his family, as they prepare to welcome a new daughter.

The MS for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr added that his constituency team will still be dealing with casework throughout the period and he also wished everyone a happy Pride Month.

In a message on social media, he said: “Over the next few weeks I’m going to take some time away from work and social media to be with my family as we prepare to welcome our new daughter into it.

“Take care everyone and Happy Pride Month to all who celebrate! My excellent constituency team will still be dealing with casework throughout so do continue to send any queries through to [email protected] as normal. Thanks again for all the kind messages of support.”

Price announced that he and his partner, with whom he already has a son, were expecting a daughter at his party’s Spring conference back in March.

At the end of his speech at the conference, he said: “To finish on a bit of personal good news,  I’d like to share with you I’m going to become a father again, in June, this time to a baby daughter.

“So whatever happens at the election, it’s going to be a good summer – though a busy one too.”

I wish him well, but I thought he wanted to be First Minister. He couldn’t take time off if he was. Not a good image.

The New Zealand PM seems to have coped with some time off to start a family. Doesn’t seem to have impacted her image too much!

Maybe politics is more mature in New Zealand, but here his opponents will use it against him. As I say I wish him well.
